Hungary & Croatia, October 2023

Meg and I met in high school, a time when we both were committed to colorful streaks in our hair, plaid pants, and not caring about swim team, but going anyway. We knew we needed to move away from home for college and found a school that allowed pets, a school with a beach. She is my longest friendship and someone I greatly admire. When I moved across the world at 22, Meg was the one I went to see first at her apartment in Hong Kong. This year, I had the great pleasure of getting to travel with her again. We travelled to Hungary, where her father grew up and where she spent the summers of her youth. And since we are the daughters of men who like to drive long distances, while we were there we took a road trip to the coastal Croatian city of Zadar and stayed on the Ugljan Islands in the town of Preko.
